Brazilian Soprano Gabriella Di Laccio named one of the BBC’s 100 most inspirational and influential women in the world 2018

International award winner soprano Gabriella Di Laccio has been named by BBC as one of 100 most inspirational and influential women in the world 2018 for both her music and as Founder & Curator of DONNE, Women in Music – a project that highlights  the life and work of female composers.

Gabriella’s comment:

“I am profoundly honoured to be named one of the BBC’s 100 Women of 2018. I feel so privileged to be working in an art form that can touch people equally and deeply, regardless of gender, social position or nationality.

The BBC’s 100 Women season returns this November, shining a spotlight on women’s experiences around the world with three weeks of special programmes, features, big-name interviews and digital content, across the BBC’s UK and international TV and radio services and online.
Returning for the sixth year, the 2018 season will reflect what has been a momentous year for women’s rights around the globe.  From the #metoo revelations to women gaining the right to drive in Saudi Arabia, and from the abortion vote in Ireland to the unprecedented numbers of female candidates in the US midterms, the last 12 months have seen women around the world standing up and speaking out.

Winner of the “Air Europa Classical Act of the Year Award 2013”, Peter Pears Prize and Richard III Prize RCM, international soprano Gabriella Di Laccio enjoys an international career that spans the genres of opera, oratorio and chamber music.

Especially known for her virtuoso voice and much sought after in Baroque music she is also a devoted performer of Contemporary repertoire. Bringing freshness to older music and authority to new, Gabriella displays intensity in her performance, which transcends the traditional boundaries of classical music, introducing new and exuberant flavour and charisma.
