Dadbloguk named UK’s Best Dad Blog at inaugural Online Influence Awards

Fatherhood and parenting blog Dadbloguk has taken the title of Best UK Dad Blog at the first ever Online Influence Awards.

The awards recognise social media influencers who not only produce original content, but work to high professional, ethical standards.

John Adams is the stay at home dad who writes Dadbloguk. He lives in Surrey with his wife Gill and daughters Helen, 11 and Izzy, 7.

Commenting on his blog’s win, John said: “Receiving the Online Influence Award for best Dad Blog means a huge amount to me. It’s amazing recognition of the hours and hours of work I put into Dadbloguk.

“I absolutely love blogging and working in the world of social media. It’s a way for me to earn money and supplement my family’s income while my children are at school. It’s amazing for me to have Dadbloguk names as the UK’s best fatherhood blog.

“My kids can’t quite believe I was a finalist in an award alongside YouTubers Dan TDM and PewDiePie. I can’t believe I was in awards featuring names such as Caroline Hirons and the team behind the Brexit podcast and to win the award at the inaugural ceremony makes it that bit more special.”

The Online Influence Awards took place at a glittering ceremony at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London on 22 November. They were organised by Vuelio, the monitoring, insight and engagement platform for editorial media and influencers,

John launched Dadbloguk in 2012 to tell his story as a father who left his career to become the main carer for his children. Over time the blog has grown and he now runs it as a business that he fits around his family commitments.

John writes about all manner of subjects from the father’s perspective including: Days out with the family, online safety, education, schooling, flexible-working, gender equality, motoring and all manner of subjects that affect families or are of interest to dads.

John’s blogging career has seen him interview Hollywood greats such as Steve Carell and Michael Douglas. He has twice travelled to Australia to advise the charity Movember on a project focusing on men’s mental health. Earlier this year, meanwhile, John took part in a panel discussion at the Side by Side fatherhood conference in Ottawa, Canada.

The Online Influence Awards supercede the Vuleio Blog Awards, which ran from 2015 until 2018. The new style awards have been opened up to include podcasters, Instagrammers and vloggers. The awards are judged by a jury featuring people form some of the UK’s best known creative and PR agencies.
