5-Year-Old Girl Set to Take on Inspirational Cycling Challenge Covering 55 Miles in a Day
A young cycling enthusiast is training hard for a summer challenge that will see her cover an incredible 55 miles in a single day. Following in the footsteps of her older brother, aged 7, and father – Owner of Little Pro, a retailer of quality cycling gear for children – plucky Lara Ebrey has set her sights on completing a cycling challenge that most adults would feel daunted by.
During the summer, Lara will take on the Taff Trail in South Wales over the course of a day. Inspired by her brother Lewis who completed the difficult black run down Wales’ tallest mountain Snowdon last year, Lara wanted to push herself too. But riding a mostly off road run from Brecon to Cardiff takes a lot of dedication and training and some have even questioned whether the challenge is possible for a five-year-old. Fortunately, Lara’s proud father Paul Ebrey is on hand to come up with a training plan to get the kids on the right track. They’ve already worked their way up to a 25-mile run at a respectable 7mph but with such a large distance to cover in a day there’s a focus on picking up the pace.
Paul Ebrey said “Even an adult would need to be fit to complete the Taff Trail and at the current pace we’re setting it means being in the saddle for 7.5 hours not including any stops, so training over the next few months is crucial. Lara and Lewis have always been mini cycling pros and they’ve loved spending every opportunity practising to complete the challenges they’ve come up with. It’s not just their cycling that benefits but they’ve learnt how to apply themselves and overcome obstacles that seemed impossible at first too.”
Ebrey launched Little Pro in 2016 after struggling to find high quality cycling kit that would keep his kids safe while they were zooming down hills. Identifying a demand for a retailer that supplied everything from top riding gloves to biking safety equipment and padding, Little Pro was born, selling pro kids biking gear for young children aged 2 -16. Working with leading brands and employing the services of a sportswear designer, the business offers an extensive range products chosen with quality in mind.
