Caring Forest Fuels Employee to Raise Money for Local Children’s Hospice

A big-hearted Forest Fuels employee, which has an office in Oakham, is donning her favourite riding hat for an equestrian adventure on Saturday 25 March – all in the name of raising money for Dorset-based Children’s charity, Julia’s House.

Laura Banyard, who’s recently joined the eco-friendly company, is a customer account manager and deals with wood pellet and wood chip supply and biomass boiler servicing for customers. However outside work she is a keen rider, so will be taking part in a Point to Point flat race on her beloved horse, Oscar, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the worthy cause in order to help fund expansion into Wiltshire.

Speaking about the ride, Laura said, “I have never entered something like this before, but I try and do something for charity once a year so thought with my love of horses and riding it was a perfect match.”

The flat course is 11 furlongs (1.38 miles) and will be the first race on the card at the Point to Point. The event is open to any non-thoroughbred horse who has seen hounds with the Wilton and riders must be 18 or over.

17 year old Oscar and is a Welsh Section D, 14.1HH. Having owned him for the past five years, and after knowing him for seven, the two have an unbreakable bond, often exploring the countryside on legal hunts and practicing his jumping skills.

Dave Myatt, Marketing Manager at Forest Fuels, said, “Laura has quickly become a key part of the Forest Fuels team, and we are extremely proud of her for taking this on. The whole company has got behind her and Oscar, digging deep to show our support for this incredibly worthy cause.”

Julia’s House provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at the hospice. The money raised will go directly to the worthy charity in order to help fund a new centre in the market town of Devizes, Wiltshire. Currently in development, the centre is set to be completed in late spring this year and will mean that more children and their families can get the support thy desperately need.
