Celebrated British actor welcomes creative sector growth

The creative arts are currently booming around the world, and it’s a development welcomed by the industry, including acclaimed British actor Cengiz Dervis. The action star, who already has an award under his belt, applauded the efforts of the arts sector and continues to argue that there are many reasons to support the arts throughout 2017 and beyond.

The combined TV, film, and music industry grew over 10% in the UK in the second half of 2016 alone, figures show. Digitally savvy consumers are underpinning the growth but a range of visionary directors, stellar acting casts, and behind the scene professionals are continuing to perform well and lead when it comes to the world stage. Some of the biggest blockbusters of 2016 were shot in the UK and the independent film scene is continuing to thrive and act as a platform for upcoming talent.

Cengiz said, “The UK has a long history of being a place where the arts can shine and be celebrated, the latest figures cement that position. The arts promote creativity, give people an outlet to express their views, and can even help build bridges between different cultures. In today’s world, the place of the arts in our society are more important than ever. A film, song, or performance that brings people together shouldn’t be underestimated.”

The celebrated actor also notes that the rapidly growing arts industry has a positive impact on tourism, the economy, and local prosperity. At a time of uncertainty, he argues that the arts not only have the ability to uplift people’s spirits but the fortune of the UK too.

Cengiz noted, “The fact that the arts are growing at such a pace, even when there’s uncertainty in the UK economy, shows resilience. It highlights just how far the positive impact of the creative sector can reach and the need to keep nurturing the talent.”

Cengiz has been working in the film and TV industry since 2006, both in front of the camera and behind it. His upcoming projects of the TV series Knightfall and film Drake are set to take the sector by storm.
