Chef Damian Wawrzyniak Brings Simple Tasty Vision to Twickenham Gem Salt Flakes
Popular Twickenham restaurant, Salt Flakes will welcome a big name from the food world this month as award-winning chef, TV presenter and Polish food pioneer, Damien Wawrzyniak gets set to bring his unique culinary style to the venue.
The Polish food pioneer, who’s Peterborough restaurant House of Feasts was recently reviewed by the Michelin Guide, will oversee Salt Flakes from January in a move which looks set to cement the Heath Road venue as one of the hottest casual dining spots in south west London.
Championing seasonal British ingredients, diners at the revitalised Salt Flakes can expect a warm, cosy atmosphere in the heart of the town and a brand new selection of simple, tasty menus including a set lunch, dinner, a’la Carte option and a classic Sunday roast.
Chef Wawrzyniak’s exciting vision for the space will see smoked meats made on site. Dishes will use fresh, sustainable produce including sustainable seafood alongside a large selection of grilled, vegan and vegetarian options.
The stylish a la carte menu includes decadent treats such as Crayfish Soup, Pork Pate and Lamb Shank while lunch time guests can expect to tuck in to Wild Mushrooms Pappardelle, Braised Beef Ribs with Hoisin Sauce and Ciabatta Bread and Classic Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice Cream.
One of the biggest changes will be a brand new lounge bar, which opens on the 19 January serving up moreish sharing platters and a large selection of drinks. Live music nights will provide a stylish backdrop to the delicious new dishes.
Chef Wawrzyniak says, “I’m so proud to be taking the reins overseeing Salt Flakes, it’s a wonderful space and has built up quite the reputation in Twickenham for its modern cuisine with French influences. I’m excited to add my stamp to the menu with sharing platters, sumptuous mains, a large vegan and vegetarian option and of course, a real focus on seasonal, sustainable produce. Smoking meats on site is going to really amp up the flavours and with the stylish new lounge bar, it’s the perfect setting for special occasions as well as indulgent family dining.”
Chef Wawrzyniak will host a special six-course tasting evening on 19 February at Salt Flakes, showcasing some of the new menu’s highlights. Tickets are limited and cost £45pp.
