New Future Food Institute Bootcamps Launched to Address Climate Crisis Through Regeneration of Agri-Food Systems

The Future Food Institute, in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has announced its second edition of international training boot camps designed to address the growing climate crisis through the regeneration of agri-food systems. The inspiring boot camps have been launched to provide future climate shapers with the knowledge and confidence they need to take action through the creation of purpose-driven communities of global leaders committed to change.

Through the boot camps, the Future Food Institute hopes to build a new generation of ‘Food for Climate Shapers’ and facilitate a strong, circular, and sustainable food chain future. The aim of the boot camps, which are scheduled to take place across Europe, Asia, and North America, is to acknowledge current climate issues and mitigate the crisis through improved awareness of how production, marketing, and consumption impact change.

The new edition of international training boot camps will be led by expert innovators who are set to showcase the latest in sustainable agri-food models that generate nutritious and tasty foods while simultaneously minimizing impact on the planet. The training methods have been strategically developed to unlock potential and transform inspiration into action.

Sara Roversi, Founder of the Future Food Institute said, “Many of us already know how important it is for us to take environmental responsibility, but what’s less clear is how considering what we put on our plates can support our overall efforts. Together with the FAO, we are very excited to be launching our second edition of international training boot camps, turning purpose into action, activism into problem solving, and creating a better world through food.”

Along with FAO-created e-learning materials and on-site training modules, Future Food Institute boot camps will also provide opportunities for participants to visit local startup enterprises demonstrating best practices and developing innovative projects to support the cause. In addition, interactive workshops will be held to combine the power of both program participants and the local community to generate a prosperity-driven approach to change.

Each boot camp is designed to focus on a different area of culinary responsibility, including the role of urbanization in the plan for change, oceans as an ideal environment for food production, and agricultural efforts to generate balance between food scape and food identity. A number of boot camps will also prioritize the relationship between food and health in relation to food culture through a regenerative kitchens framework.

Nine strategic and inspiring locations have been selected for the 2020 boot camps. The destinations have been chosen for their ability to promote the strong association between diet and culture, for their innovative processes that are successfully changing how we store, transport, and distribute food, or for their forward-thinking approaches that overcome the existing climate change challenges and promote the blue economy.
