FAO Partner Announces First Ever Global Training Opportunities for Climate Shapers

The Future Food Institute, a centre of excellence for food intelligence, has announced a new programme of summer workshops which together will form the very first global training opportunities for climate and food shapers across the world. The Future Food for Climate Change Summer Schools programme has been designed in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), focusing on improving awareness of innovation as a solution to global challenges.

The Future Food for Climate Change Summer Schools programme aims to bring together the most influential change-makers in the industry to co-design tangible strategies and innovations. In facilitating the transition towards the sustainable development framework, Future Food hopes that the programme will accelerate efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals set out in the 2030 Agenda.

“We live in the era of the Imagination Economy, facing rapid cultural, social, and environmental changes and crisis, and the food industry is not only the first victim of this change but also one of the biggest responsible for the crisis” says Sara Roversi, Founder of the Future Food Institute. “With the FAO, the Future Food Institute is promoting a cultural framework that aims to foster a lifelong learning mindset, and we strive to achieve this by continuing to develop tools that generate and maintain a positive attitude towards learning, both for personal and professional development”.

“Our focus is on a competency-based new vision that is able to accelerate action towards both global health and environmental issues” continues Roversi. “Ultimately, we believe that both the public and private sectors need to cooperate for the regeneration of lifestyles, mindsets, and consciousness which should feed into a process that involves cultural innovation, and we aim to facilitate the transition towards the sustainable development framework through our new programme”.

The Future Food Institute is the first organisation to form a strategic food innovation partnership with FAO, which represents more than 190 countries across the world. The partnership with FAO has been created to implement a change in the human mindset and boost awareness of the association between the earth and health. Through the partnership, both FAO and the Future Food Institute hope to deliver solutions to global challenges including the climate crisis, food and water security, and food safety, and facilitate better feeding for an ever-growing population.

The Future Food for Climate Change Summer Schools programme kicks off in New York on 10th July 2019 with a workshop dedicated to Climate Smart Cities. This will be followed by a Climate Smart Farms event in Tokyo from 1st – 7th August 2019, and will finish with a focus on Climate Smart Oceans in Iceland from September 1st – 7th 2019.
