Actor and film producer releases tell-all book about how growing up on a safari prepared him for the Hollywood jungle

A successful actor and movie producer who has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Brad Pitt and Liam Neeson has released a book recounting his experiences growing up in the heart of South Africa.

The Boy From the Wild is a heart-warming read about the early years of Peter Meyer, who spent his youth running free alongside rhinos and elephants before finding dazzling success in La La Land.

The book has been co-written by Graham Spence, bestselling author of ‘The Elephant Whisperer’, and features vivid descriptions of the African wilderness as well details of an unfaltering bond between a father and his son.

The son of an avid explorer who also grew up in South Africa and founded the Karkloof Valley Nature Reserve, where Peter was raised, the actor turned model decided to rethink the path his life was taking after the death of his father.

After spending much of his life working as a hotelier and taking on various different director roles, Peter decided instead to focus fulltime on acting and modelling.

He has since achieved massive success, featuring in a number of blockbuster hits including Transformers: The Last Knight and Allied.

Peter Meyer said: “I am so grateful to have the opportunity to share my experiences growing up in such a vibrant setting as a safari.

“As a teenager, my father had summited a steep hill, where below lay a captivating valley. The Zulus referred to this as the Valley of Heaven, an area that my father vowed one day to transform into a reserve.

“His dreams came true and this book is really my way of honouring all that he achieved. It is a huge tribute to my father, a man who created an incredible safari and brought animals out of captivity from around the world and back into the wild.”

Initially sceptical about the production of the title, Peter was spurred on by words of encouragement by Hollywood megastar Liam Neeson.

He continued: “It was Liam Neeson that made me decide to go for it with the book. He simply said, what an amazing story, go for it.”

The book was launched live on Amazon in December and is available in both paperback & Kindle.
