Affordable and Innovative Diagnostic Solutions: Holborn Wells to Enter Indian IVD Market

A leading UK-based healthcare data and AI solutions company has confirmed it will launch a dedicated business unit in India in response to the growing need for high-quality and cost-effective molecular In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) in the country due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns. Holborn Wells India has been registered with base operation in Delhi, having raised initial capital with local partners.

Holborn Wells India will be tasked with developing and delivering IVD products for infectious diseases by leveraging data and innovative diagnostic capabilities, with continued pressure on the nation’s health service as a result of the pandemic accelerating the need for operational capacity.

The company has already initiated the process of regulatory approvals for production through the use of its established proprietary technology applications, with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility to be built in the coming months at a location still to be chosen.

In the meantime, demand for IVD products has surged due to rising COVID-19 cases in the country, with Holborn Wells India recently signing a deal with an Indian-based company to produce Holborn Wells’ products in the short-term in order to assist until a fully operational manufacturing location can be established.

The expansion of Holborn Wells’ operations to the Asian market coincides with the appointment of Sudhanshu Srivastava as the new CEO for the proposed India and Asia manufacturing hub. Mr Srivastava was previously the business unit head for Eurofins India and brings with him over 25-years’ experience in the healthcare and diagnostic sectors.

Holborn Wells’ Global CEO, Vineet Chauhan said “We see our new Holborn Wells manufacturing base in India as being an important step towards the positive impact molecular diagnostics can have in the region over the next decade and beyond.

“Alongside Mr. Srivastava, I hope to play a key role in establishing and expanding Holborn Wells India, especially when considering the Indian Government’s ‘Made in India’ initiative will see the nation emerge as a major player in the provision of quality IVD products in a global supply chain.

“We believe that through the convergence of this supply chain and availability of resources we have at our disposal, we can rapidly expand to emerging markets and provide high-quality IVD products which are globally available at reduced price points as a result of considered innovation.”

Holborn Wells India intends to launch a portfolio of over 150 IVD products to market within the next year.
