The Norfolk-based online bed and mattress retailer, Best Beds Direct is celebrating its fourth year in business, having overcome disruptions to the supply chain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – and is now navigating the cost of living crisis while keeping down prices for its UK-made divan beds and mattresses.
Store Manager Raphael Jordan said: “Having set up just before the pandemic hit, we had no shortage of challenges to overcome as a new business. We had to adapt quickly to get most of our staff to work from home, and we had to deal with an unprecedented disruption of the supply chain; so we focused on UK made-to-order items, such as divan beds.
“As these products’ parts were sourced mostly in the UK, we were able to fulfil orders quickly. Our sales peaked in 2020, up 60%. In the last 12 months online sales have increased by around 20%, and we’re introducing new brands of vacuum-packed mattresses to bring more affordable options to UK households.”
As the UK faces its worst cost of living crisis in recent memory, Best Beds Direct is maintaining low prices for its UK- manufactured products, including its most popular brands of UK-made vacuum-packed mattresses. Customers can also take advantage of various local promotions, including value deals such as a double bed with mattress, two drawers, and matching headboard for only £249. It’s also created several new jobs, with demand leading to the recruitment of a number of additional delivery personnel.
Raphael adds, “While we had to raise our prices on some products to keep up with inflation, we are keeping them down for as many products as possible – including our most popular ones. On some lines, we were even able to reduce prices in addition to running long-term bundle deals to provide a genuine saving to our customers. We firmly believe that a good night’s sleep should be affordable for everyone, and never a luxury.”
