Augmented Reality Collectibles Brand Launches on Amazon Store with Universal DreamWorks Partner

A pioneering company looking to redefine the traditional collectibles market has launched its latest range of collectable discs for purchase on the Amazon Store.

AR Discs has partnered with legendary Universal studios, creators of famous, family-friendly movies, such as Shrek, Trolls, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda, to deliver physical collectable discs with augmented reality technology.

Now available on Amazon in the UK and USA, collectors and children alike can take home their favourite animated characters by purchasing an AR Discs DreamWorks Starter Pack with Collectors Folder and two packs of AR Discs.

Each pack contains ‘blind bags’ with a collectable character disc stored inside that can be saved in a collection or traded with friends. The discs are designed to bring physical and digital together, and can be physically held in the hand before unlocking additional interactive functionality through app software.

Once collectors have downloaded the AR Discs app onto their smartphone or tablet device, they are able to unlock iconic movie clips, 3D images of DreamWorks characters, and further information – all by hovering the camera lens of the discs themselves.

Seen as a natural evolution of collectables, AR Discs plans to build out an expansive collection of augmented reality collectibles for a new generation of collectors, with further global licenses in the works across the entertainment, sports, and gaming industries.

William Byron, Director at AR Discs, said, “We’re enormously proud to leverage our latest collection of AR featuring collectible discs on a global scale through the Amazon Store.

“Our first collection celebrates DreamWorks iconic movies over the last 25 years, including a diverse range of  favourite animated characters.

“We believe that our AR discs will pave the way for a more immersive collectibles experience by providing an extra layer of engaging content for the digital generation, whilst maintaining the physical product, allowing the kids to collect and trade.”
