Augmented Reality Collectibles Brand Looks to Bridge Gap Between Physical and Digital with New Generation of Collectibles

A UK-based collectibles brand is looking to breathe new life into the collectibles market, with a global launch of augmented reality collectible discs, designed to appeal to a whole new generation of children and collectors.

Thanks to a partnership with legendary animation studio Universal, AR Discs’ first collectables range celebrates 25 years of DreamWorks movies. It features an 80 disc collection of favourite characters. AR Discs has created an augmented reality-based technology which smartly bridges the physical and digital gap. Users simply place their smartphone above the character image to bring their collectibles to life.

With individual ‘blind bags’ each containing a physical disc, a starter pack with collectors’ folder and two blind bags, or a three-pack box of blind bags available online via the Amazon Store or in selected retail outlets, collectors young and old can experience the latest innovation in collectibles.

After downloading the free AR Discs app from the Google Play or Apple Store, collectors are able to combine tangible and virtual worlds as part of a unique approach to the collectibles market.

The App  gives the user access to famous movie clips relating to each character, as well as special edition 3D models.

Further licenses from global brands are set for launch in future AR Discs collection, with the aim of combining the physical and digital worlds.

By creating an immersive, interactive experience, AR Discs is bringing a new generation of collectables to a new generation of collectors.

William Byron, Director of AR Discs, said, “ We believe that kids today still want something to touch and feel, which they can collect and trade with friends, but in a digital age they are also looking for additional engagement. By using the latest in AR technology we bring the product to life, combining physical and digital collectables, allowing them to interact with the products using a smartphone or tablet.”
