Black-Owned British Luxury Lifestyle Brand House of RG Hits Selfridges & Co
The decadent glamour, beautiful embellishment and vibrant opulence of Nigerian culture will arrive in Selfridges & Co tomorrow with the launch of an exclusive new capsule collection by House of RG, the contemporary fashion house which fuses the designer’s African heritage with sharp, bold designs for men and women.
Available online and in store, House of RG’s garments are hand-beaded, elegantly cut and custom handcrafted with limited runs and statement silhouettes, adornment and patterns.
The addition of House of RG to Selfridges & Co. comes as part of the retailer’s new initiative to increase the representation of Black-owned businesses and consumers on the high street.
House of RG designer and founder Dorothy L Ogwuru said, “Considering the many events happening in the UK surrounding race and inclusivity, I am very excited to work with Selfridges who took this initiative of selecting black owned luxury brands to represent on their platform and have pushed this with such passion. I hope to see other major luxury retailers follow Selfridges’ lead in this new movement which is the inclusion of talented Black British designers and creatives in UK luxury retailers.”
The capsule collection includes the striking Erinma split-hem embellished mini dress with front split, capped sleeves, scoop neck, velvet texture and all-over bead and rhinestone embellishment, in green and black.
There’s also the mesmerising Ume V-neck embellished mini dress, with long sleeves, wrap-over front and all-over bead and rhinestone embellishment. For those craving a splash of colour, the showstopping Adaku long-sleeved embellished mini dress in yellow features a scoop neck, long sleeves and all-over bead and rhinestone embellishment. Each item in the collection is made from 100% cotton, hand cut, hand finished and fully lined.
