Chef Damian Wawrzyniak to Put Poland on a Plate at the World Travel Market

Polish food pioneer Damien Wawrzyniak will round out a bumper year of Polish culinary adventures at the World Travel Market in London next month after being invited by the Polish government to help it showcase the country’s vibrant food culture.

Recently honoured with a Knight’s Cross, Order of Revival of Poland by the President of Poland for his tireless promotion of classic Polish cuisine, Chef Damian will put on his apron to lead a luxury live food workshop peppered with Polish delicacies and his own mouth-watering twists on traditional dishes.

Chef Damian, who was recently invited to meet The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge to discuss Polish – British Cooperation and prepared a royal packed lunch for Prince William and Kate Middleton during their first ever visit to Poland, will cook up a series of Polish delicacies at the Polish Tourism Organisation’s stand throughout the World Travel Market.

Visitors can expect to enjoy a range of traditional dishes with contemporary twists, such as the autumn-themed Sharlotka Apple Cake, and a range of Polish delicacies prepared using typical Polish methods such as brining, pickling and fermenting. Dishes will celebrate Polish ingredients such as juniper and marjoram, creating an exciting festival of flavours which showcase the secrets of the ‘last undiscovered food frontier’.

“Poland has an amazingly rich and varied food culture, with strong ties to traditional dishes yet a really forward-thinking, innovative approach to food which lots of people are yet to really discover,” says Chef Damian. “I was honoured to be invited to attend the World Travel Market with the Polish Tourism Organisation with a brief to celebrate typical Polish dishes and demonstrate what a varied, exciting time this is for food in Poland. I can’t wait to serve up some of my favourite dishes and spotlight some of our incredible ingredients to give those new to Polish cuisine a delicious introduction they’ll want to take further.”

Chef Damian will be cooking and sharing food tips at the Polish Tourism Organisation stand, EU1420. The World Travel Market takes place 5-7 November 2018 at London Excel.
