A London start-up has launched an innovative new service which can help consumers looking to either end active contracts or take up a short term contract without incurring penalties or price hikes.

Contract Village is a smart, easy-to-use alternative to those who find themselves needing to get out of a phone, gym, housing, leased electrical goods, cleaning service or car lease contract. It connects individuals looking to transfer the remainder of the contract to someone looking for a shorter-term agreement for the same service.

Whether the original contract holder wants out because they are moving abroad or due to a change in financial situation, the platform offers an ideal solution for those who do not want to be hit with early termination fees.

After registering, site users can create listings through a user-friendly web service and are then matched to people wanting to take on contracts via their search criteria.

Contract Village was birthed out of frustration when founder Candy Graham could not terminate a mobile phone contract that she was unhappy with. When advised that it could be transferred to another party and did not have to be fulfilled by her, she began researching the legalities around consumer contract transfers, and Contract Village was born.
