IS IT ALL DOOM AND GLOOM FOR GLOBAL NUTRITION AND FOOD SUSTAINABILITY?

2020 Immersive Multisensory Future Foods Menu Set to Shed a Positive Light and Experience on the Matter.

There is a lot of pessimism when it comes to the food industry, from small local restaurant closures to global concerns over food security and nutrition – and by most accounts it is clear the UK is not faring well. Enter North London experimental food studio Kitchen Theory who is challenging the traditional restaurant format with the launch of their ‘2020 Future Foods Chef’s Table’ immersive supper club experience in January 2020.

The ‘2020 Future Foods’ experience takes guests on a multisensory journey into the future of food addressing many of the key global concerns and seeks to offer innovative solutions in areas such as the role of artificial intelligence, zero waste, biodiversity, sustainability and personalised nutrition through a 10-course tasting menu.

In the signature witty and mesmerising style of the design studio, each course is brought to life with projections, soundscapes, aromas and other immersive sensory elements all based on close to a decade’s worth of academic research with Experimental Psychologist professor Charles Spence of Oxford University.

Chef Jozef and Professor Spence have published over fifteen peer reviewed articles exploring the sensory relationship we have with food, they believe this is vital to developing food experiences for the future which encourage people to make more nutritious and sustainable food choices, in restaurants, schools, hospitals and care homes.

“Many of the solutions put forward for the future of food are about compromise, but our dining experience is an optimistic and delicious look at the future of dining” Kitchen Theory Creative Director Chef Jozef Youssef.

The Kitchen Theory chef’s table is open as a supper club to the public last weekend of the month or bookable as a private experience for groups of up to 12 guests. The new 10-course Future Foods menu and experience will launch in January 2020. Seats to the supper club are £180 pp and is all inclusive of a 10-course tasting menu, champagne, wine and service charge. Private bookings are £2000 + vat for up to 12 guests.
