Dorset Holiday Cottages see upturn in bookings as demand for pet-friendly holiday accommodation soars

Family run business Dorset Cottage Holidays has revealed it has experienced a surge in bookings for its pet-friendly holiday cottages following months of government-enforced lockdown.

With restrictions governing the use of holiday rentals now eased, demand for properties which permit four-legged friends is booming, with a significant 25% increase in the number of families seeking good quality, pet-friendly holiday accommodation soaring. Only a limited number of dates are available to book this summer.

According to a recent study, the demand for puppies for sale rose by 104% compared to the prior year at the peak of lockdown in May 2020 with more families buying a puppy than ever before. Add in the fact that new Brexit legislation requires pets to have an animal health certificate for travel outside of the UK and many dog owners are choosing to holiday closer to home to avoid the hassle and cost associated with either pet passports or expensive boarding kennels.

Dorset Cottage Holidays have been providing many families and couples with memorable breaks for years and have an exclusive range of pet-friendly rentals to suit families of all sizes, interests and budgets throughout Dorset.

Located in popular areas including the famous Jurassic Coast, Corfe Castle and Purbeck Villages, many of these holiday rentals are near to dog-friendly pubs and attractions, too.

For the humans, some of the properties available from Dorset holiday cottages also boast sea views, hot tubs and roaring fires, meaning that there’s something for everyone.

Dorset Cottage Holidays MD Leanne Hemmingway said, “It’s been amazing to see so many bookings pour in for our amazing pet-friendly holiday accommodation this year, but dates are filling up fast so dog owners wishing to staycation with their pup will need to act fast. August is already sold out, and while we have dates available for the 2021 season, we don’t expect them to stick around as more people are choosing not to travel abroad this year and believe that the dog deserves a break too.”
