‘THE DREAMER’ DOCUMENTS INSPIRATIONAL REAL-LIFE RAGS-TO-RICHES TALE OF UK ENTREPRENEUR
New autobiography details one man’s journey out of poverty
Entrepreneur David Brett pulls no punches with his newly released book, The Dreamer. Now a successful businessman and entrepreneur, for Brett things were not always so simple.
Some years ago he struggled to get by on just £2 a day – living in a flat with a serious mould problem and no carpets. He looks back on this time as both traumatic and transformative, as it was during the same period that Brett began building the business which now provides him with a healthy livelihood and an organization recently valued at £400k.
Half autobiography, half motivational classic-in-the-making, The Dreamer documents the author’s struggles learning to build and grow his own successful business. Brett’s success was by no means overnight, but the result of years of dedication and hard work. Starting out as a sewer engineer, he knew he wanted more from life, but wasn’t sure exactly how to reach his goals.
“I wanted out. I wanted my own home – I had a picture on my wall of my dream house. The only way I could do it was to try and defeat the odds,” says Brett. “Without any qualifications, it was never stacked in my favour…but I still managed to create something special.”
Today, David Brett is a resounding success in business, having been featured in several newspapers, as well as on BBC news, national radio and even a Sky TV documentary. He has taken part in motivational speaking events alongside the likes of Bob Geldof, and is now ready to share his own story in The Dreamer. The book artfully handles its tricky subject matter, detailing Brett’s highs and lows along the way to where he is today.
“I would like to show to anyone else who feels they are young and stuck in a rut, without any chance in the world, that is simply not true,” says Brett. “You can do anything, as long as you dedicate yourself – devote your whole life to your goals, and you can achieve anything. ‘Never give up’ is the motto I live by.”
