Executive coaching helping women break through career barriers thanks to Silver Lining Psychology

Following an uptick in the number of female CEOs named in this year’s Fortune 500, Silver Lining Psychology is urging more businesswomen to embrace their inner strength and access the tools needed to deal with systemic issues which can hold them back in their respective careers.

This year, 33 of the Fortune 500 companies were successfully led by powerful female CEOs, an increase from just 24 last year. Although a relatively small percentage of Fortune 500 companies are headed up by women, the rise from 4.8 to 6.6% is a significant step forward and illustrates a change in perception when it comes to females in high powered roles.

With the many barriers hindering women succeeding in their careers being well documented, the 2019 increase is welcome news, but more needs to be done to empower women in executive roles in order for them to meet their true potential according to a leading executive coach.

Dr Patricia Thompson is the creator of Silver Lining Psychology. She is a management consultant and executive coach and is urging more female executives to tap into the wealth of tools available to overcome career obstacles and map out a successful route to their dream position.

Dr Thompson said, “The stumbling blocks for female executives are numerous in male-centric work environments, but by having the confidence to leverage their unique assets to their best possible advantage, many women can help to reach new heights in their careers and find greater happiness in their roles.”

One of the many tools that Dr Thompson advocates in her executive coaching services is mindfulness, as both research and her experience teaching others about how to use this essential technique have shown its effectiveness for boosting business performance.

She continues “Mindfulness gives leaders the tools to be able to take a step back, so that they can respond to situations intentionally, instead of reactively. As a result, it can enhance focus and enable you to tackle complex projects with a clear mind, boost emotional intelligence, increase your resilience to stress, and make you a more effective influencer. These are clearly skills that any career climber needs to master.”

Dr Thompson has created a wealth of tools and resources for women seeking to climb the corporate ladder including blogs, coaching services, and an online mindfulness course for executives to help her female clients develop greater skill in navigating any barriers they may face as they continue to travel their path towards high-level positions.
