Female Entrepreneur Who Changed Face of Male Dominated Sport Confirms Fourth Annual National Ladies Shooting Day
A female entrepreneur who fell into a male dominated sport and made it her mission to help thousands of other women do the same will see her journey come full circle this summer.
Victoria Knowles-Lacks, who founded The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club, will host the world’s largest all-female shooting event on 9th June as the fourth annual National Ladies Shooting Day takes place across the UK. More than twenty venues around the country will participate, with both newcomers and more experienced shooters welcome.
Dubbed the ‘pioneer’ of clay shooting sports, Knowles-Lacks created The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club in 2011 on a whim after feeling increasingly frustrated with her role at a country house estate agency. Seven years later and the Club has won 10 awards and helped more than 15,000 women try clay pigeon shooting. The Club thrives on its fun, female approach and has broken down barriers across Europe in what is traditionally a male-orientated pastime.
Last year’s National Ladies Shooting Day welcomed more than 1,000 women to its nationwide events with #NLSD2018 already on course to surpass that number. “National Ladies Shooting Day is a really fun day out in the countryside,” explains Victoria. “More than that, women of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can come together and have a go at clay shooting under instruction, win some prizes and be part of an event which guarantees fun and new friends.
“Traditionally, clay pigeon shooting has been a really male dominated sport and that can be quite off-putting if you’re inexperienced but really want to try something a bit different. The Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club and National Ladies Shooting Day is about changing that – you don’t need to have ever been clay pigeon shooting before to take part and it’s a fun, inclusive day for women only so it’s an event that people love attending.”
“I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved already and how many women have been given the confidence and opportunity to try clay shooting through this event, some of our attendees have said it’s changed their life. The events are run by our members and we couldn’t do it without them, the shooting schools or our sponsors” All of the
National Ladies Shooting day events include top coaching, 30 cartridges, clays, gun hire, ear and eye protection, a #NLSD2018 baseball cap, a goodie bag and competitions and giveaways packed with covetable prizes.
National Ladies Shooting Day takes place on 09 June 2018 and is sponsored by Fieldsports Magazine, Browning, Alan Paine, Dubarry and Hull Cartridge.
