Innovative No Contact SafeTouch Key Launches Crowdfunding Campaign

An innovative new product designed to minimize contact with surfaces other people touch and reduce the spread of germs following the coronavirus pandemic has launched a crowdfunding campaign to go into production this week. SafeTouch Key is an antimicrobial touch tool with an ergonomic, multifunctional design and touch-screen friendly tip. It prevents users from having direct contact with shared surfaces such as door handles, elevator buttons and key pads.

Scientific research suggests that a staggering 80% of germs are spread via hands alone, with one single germ capable of multiplying 8 million times per day. On surfaces such as door knobs which are handled through the day by multiple individuals, coming into contact with germs is almost inevitable if the surface comes into direct contact with the surface of the skin. That particle is then transferred to clothes, the face, other people and other surfaces.

Research carried out by designers BeSafe indicates that one single contaminated doorknob can infect approximately 50% of the occupants of a building in just a few hours. To remove that danger, SafeTouch Key can be used in the place of a human hand. The no contact safety tool reduces the point-of-contact area and keeps hands clean.

Small and portable, SafeTouch Key can be easily attached to a key chain and carried along with other keys or slipped into a pocket, wallet or bag. The clever portable design is practical and functional, helping to stop the spread of germs and giving complete peace of mind whether at work or at home.

Manufactured from Zinc, SafeTouch Key harnesses the metal’s natural antimicrobial properties – it has greater antimicrobial activity than copper or silver and unlike other metals, zinc kills germs, pathogens and viruses within just a few hours of contact.

Tarique Sha, BeSafe marketing manager said, “We are more aware of germs now than ever before and knowing that shared surfaces such as doors and touch pads can put us in direct contact with pathogens is a clear worry as the nation prepares to go back to work and back to normal daily life. To keep germs away, the average person needs to wash their hands at least five times a day and scrub thoroughly with soap for 20 seconds. The problem is we can’t always immediately wash our hands especially when we’re in public areas.

“SafeTouch Key is a clever way to stay safe and avoid contact with communal surfaces which could be harbouring germs. The naturally antimicrobial properties of zinc mean the tool stays germ free and safe to use over and over again.”

Eco-friendly and sustainable, SafeTouch Key is incredibly durable and won’t deform when stored in a wallet or on a key chain. It has launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund mass production with backers rewarded with
