The Integrate Agency CIC to Help Lambeth Charities Prepare For New Data Regulations
Individuals that lead in IT within charities will be able to attend free General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance and cybersecurity training, where they will be given expert guidance, support and instruction, thanks to new funding by City Bridge Trust.
#CyberSafeLambeth is a training programme that educates IT Manager level staff in local charities about GDPR and offers insight and knowledge to overcome cybersecurity threats and work more effectively.
The in-depth training programme will run across a number of days and will educate Lambeth-based charity IT professionals about key aspects of cybersecurity and the implications of GDPR, which comes into force from 25 May 2018.
The programme, which is being funded by City Bridge Trust, will require all trainees to commit to help at least one other, smaller Lambeth charity through The Integrate Agency CIC’s innovative ‘Hire a Volunteer’ platform.
This world class training opportunity will be available for up to 48 Lambeth-based IT manager level charity professionals. Each will be taught about threats and trends within the industry, providing them with the skills and know how to confidently meet the requirements for GDPR.
Eoin Heffernan, Founder of Integrate said: “We are delighted to be able to offer cybersecurity training to local charities and reach out to train charity IT professionals working in the London Borough of Lambeth.
With GDPR coming into force in May 2018, we are keen to catalyse IT manager level volunteers to be provide support for small, local charities that would otherwise not able to access this expertise.
Our innovative programme will ensure that IT professionals working for charities are equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills they need to confidently address GDPR for their organisations and volunteer their time for another local charity. Another bonus is that it’s completely free, so there’s no reason for people not to get involved.”
Statistics have revealed that only 14% of charitable organizations believe that they are well-protected against cyber threats and data breaches, suggesting that this training programme couldn’t be expanding at a more relevant time.
Alison Gowman, Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s City Bridge Trust Committee, commented: “This programme is extremely relevant in today’s society where cybercrime is unfortunately increasingly common.
“These training workshops will equip charitable organisations with all the skills and knowledge they need to avoid being victims of scams or any criminal activity online, which can frequently target the most vulnerable people. City Bridge Trust is committed to tackling disadvantage across the capital and making London a fairer and better place live.”
