KOWA will open its exquisite new Asian garden in Milan this month

Nestled deep within the design capital of Italy, Milan’s first ever pan-Asian restaurant KOWA will open its exquisite new Asian garden this month. Fittingly, the garden will be unveiled as the city prepares to welcome the Salone del Mobile, an international reference point for the design sector.

Hidden away within the luxury Fifty House Hotel, KOWA’s garden has been designed to the same exacting principles and elements of ancient Chinese gardens, guaranteeing a restorative and reinvigorating experience.

The result is a tranquil oasis by day, set to the soothing backdrop of an Asian fountain and calming stone, the yang to water’s feminine yin. When night falls, the garden is transformed into an exclusive, sensory destination serving some of Milan’s best cocktails and pan-Asian cuisine, master crafted by Executive Chef, Jeff Tyler.

Seating 60 people from April to October, KOWA’s breathtaking urban haven is one of just a handful of luxurious outdoor dining destinations in Milan, sitting alongside the Mandarin Oriental Milan’s Setai restaurant, Bulgari Hotel’s courtyards and Salumaio di Montenapoleone. Located minutes from the Duomo, the courtyard, with its dramatic terracotta warriors, Buddha and lush greenery provides an utterly serene setting to enjoy the dramatic fusion of Chinese and Japanese cuisine.

Signature dishes include the KOWA duck salad, miso black cod, tuna foie gras carpaccio and some of the best Wagyu beef in the world, all accompanied by a premium wine list that includes such lauded estates as Antinori and Gaja on its roster, as well as a selection of French and New World wines.

The KOWA garden will also be the place to explore one of the largest Sake lists in Milan or savour one of 30 inventive cocktails including Rosemary and Raspberry, Sherbet Shunga and the Gimlet 2.0, all creations of rule-defying mixologist, Claudio who serves vintage taste to contemporary palettes.

Behind the garden guests find KOWA’s incredible interiors, with a modern twist on the art deco genre of Orientalism resulting in vibrant teal hues, deep purples, brass and lacquered black, giving the space a sensual feel.
