London-Designed Folding Sunglasses Brand Launches Stylish New Collection After Crowdfunding Success

Poolside, beachside, Stateside or citywide, contemporary technology and classic design join forces this month as British brand Hexton launches its stylish collection of foldable sunglasses.

Designed to traverse the urban streets with lashings of quintessential London cool, the five piece line takes its cue from retro silhouettes but adds a thoroughly modern spin – a twist which saw it smash its Kickstarter goal in January.  Obsessed with the idea of modern folding sunglasses after a summer of broken frames and snapped arms, Hexton’s design team set out to create an innovative, fashionable solution mixing iconic shapes with premium materials.

Each Hexton design marries contemporary technology with classic aesthetics and incorporates a unique five-hinge folding design for portability and safe storage.

Tom Hambly, Digital Director, Hexton said, “A few friends launched Hexton to bring an alternative option to the overpriced folding sunglasses from name brands and their cheap imitations. We felt we could create a brand of quality, beautifully designed, compact sunglasses and still keep it affordable – something that you couldn’t find anywhere else. Our crowd funding campaign and reviews since then have been a great success so we hope to continue pushing forward a trend with folding sunglasses and crowd fund our second line of exiting styles as soon as possible.”

Enduring eyewear meets modern convenience across the unisex range with two designs available in matt or gloss black and tortoiseshell. The scratch-resistant UV400 Category 3 lenses are paired with reinforced polycarbonate frames, industrial grade aluminium fixings and accompanied by a protective case and microfiber cloth.

The Hexton collection may be driven by London’s historic commitment to style, innovation and design but is created for the thoroughly modern. Space saving, practical and boasting couture appeal without the runway price tag, the Hexton is at home on the city streets but folds away in seconds when the open road, main stage or pool beckons.

Sophisticated yet casual, the Sloane is available in tortoiseshell and glossy black and has a curvaceous rounded style, with smoke grey or brown lenses and aluminium temple arms. It’s reminiscent of 70’s

London, utterly practical, doesn’t compromise on city cool vibes and folds down for compact storage.

The classic Leyton is James Dean meets Shoreditch hipster, with the unmistakable wayfarer silhouette, set to a polycarbonate frame, with five aluminium screw detailing, subtle H branding with smoke grey or brown lenses in tortoiseshell or black.

Prices start from £40.
