Meet the New Hair and Skin Care Brand Helping to Save the Planet

Could eco-friendly hair and skin care products be key to ensuring a long future for our planet? Absolutely, according to one family-run business on a mission to change the way traditional cosmetics companies operate. With the launch of its new line of future-proof hair and skin products, UK-based No Ordinary is challenging the industry status quo, designing and creating high quality products with a conscience that care for the customer and for the planet.

Renowned Leicester-based hair guru, Gavin Taylor has joined forces with an experienced team to build the No Ordinary brand, which has been developed behind-the-scenes at the stylist’s award-winning salon in Rothley. Focusing on positivity, quality, and sustainability, the cruelty-free No Ordinary products contain ethically-sourced ingredients which work in harmony with the hair and scalp for a naturally healthy, flawlessly smooth, professional finish.

“From the very beginning of my career, I’ve always tried to combine my styling experience with my strong belief in kindness, and really promote the importance of being kind not only to each other but to the planet,” says Gavin Taylor, Owner of Gavin Taylor Hair and Founder of No Ordinary. “Sadly, what we’re seeing across the industry is many companies still creating and using products full of potentially harmful chemicals which not only pose a health risk, but also risk permanent damage to our natural environment.”

“While there are a number of environmentally-friendly cosmetics out there, we found that many fail to deliver the results that customers are really looking for, which is exactly why we developed No Ordinary. Our mission is to provide salon-quality products designed by hair care professionals to keep hair looking great while also helping to spread the message to live a life less ordinary and help future generations build a better tomorrow.”

No Ordinary is already making quite a name for itself, having been crowned winner of the 2019 Eluxe Magazine Natural Hair Care Award. It has also been nominated in two categories at the Natural Health International Beauty Awards alongside more established brands including Tropic, Neal’s Yard and Weleda. The brand has been commended for its use of safe, natural ingredients and aromatherapy-grade essential oils which invigorate and revitalise while simultaneously caring for the hair and scalp.

Three ranges of No Ordinary shampoos and conditioners are available now: ‘Balance’ with lavender and mandarin, ‘Clarity’ with rosemary and mint and ‘Repair’ with aloe vera and bergamot, each designed to address different concerns and suit different types of hair. In addition, a cleansing hand wash and lotion for all skin types is available alongside the hair care range.

All ingredients in the No Ordinary product collection are sourced from small producers and farming cooperatives in the UK. Each soothing elixir is also biodegradable, vegan, cruelty-free, 99% natural and 76% organic. The bottles themselves are also cleverly designed, made from premium grade plastic that can be refilled, reused and kept in circulation to minimise the amount of waste sent to landfill.

No Ordinary products are currently available to buy online, and at Wolf & Badger, Immaculate Vegan, Organics, Carma London and Amazon. They can also be purchased in-store at a number of salons in the East Midlands. To date, No Ordinary has proven to be particularly popular within the hospitality industry, with 5 litre containers available to re-fill glass apothecary bottles for use in washrooms and guest bedrooms in hotels.
