Midland Pallet Trucks has applauded recent figures which show the UK’s manufacturing orders climbing higher than they’ve been since 1988 due to a combination of premium British quality and the weak pound.
Global demand for goods from the UK has been primarily driven by rises in the chemicals, electronics and transports sectors. Britain is renowned for supplying superior quality goods in these sectors, and the reduced pound has meant that businesses across the world can procure them for cheaper prices, causing them to flock to the UK with increasing orders.
Phil Chesworth, Midland Pallet Trucks Managing Director, said: “It’s incredible to see that our manufacturing industries are continuing to prosper in uncertain economic times.
“We’re known across the world for our quality in these areas and, contrary to what many supposed, Brexit is actually helping to drive demand up even further and guaranteeing jobs for workers in the UK.”
The CBI (Confederation of British Industry), which is widely regarded as one of the UK’s premier business organizations, has said that strong order books have resulted in the higher factory output Britain has enjoyed over recent months. Food and drink firms have seen a particularly marked increase in demand over this period.
If recent plans by The Government to increase worker productivity are successful, this could turbo-charge Britain’s manufacturing economy and transform the UK into a manufacturing hotspot for countries across the world.
Phil added: “We’re certainly not out of the woods yet with Brexit and there are still challenges we face as a manufacturing industry, but figures such as these are encouraging to see and hopefully we’ll see more of the same in 2018.”
