Midland Pallet Trucks Urges Companies to Review Health and Safety Amidst Revelation of Failing Standards

Midland Pallet Trucks, one of the country’s leading suppliers of warehouse and material handling equipment, such as pallet trucks and high lift pallet trucks, has expressed the need for businesses to keep in-line with health and safety regulations, as it’s revealed that almost two thirds of UK businesses are failing to meet basic health and safety laws, and as a result, are putting their employees in danger.

The results are the product of a survey of 2,000 employees working for businesses that have five or more employees. Undertaken by data capture app provider, WorkMobile, it also revealed that even when workers were provided with written health and safety guidance, the information didn’t explain the risks of the job properly. And the experts at Midland Pallet Trucks cannot explain how serious this is in modern society.

Phil Chesworth, Managing Director of Midland Pallet Trucks, said, “We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, businesses need to make sure they are focussed on the health and safety of their employees above anything else – no matter what sector they are in. In 2017, it really is astounding that so many companies are failing their employees and putting them at risk.”

Other startling findings from the report include the news that 27 percent of staff who received and read their company’s health and safety manual thought the information didn’t go into enough detail about their own role, the dangers they could face, or how to deal with risky situations. In addition, 13 percent state that their company handbook has never been updated in the time they have been at the company.
