Mother reunited with sons after fifty years thanks to FinderMonkey

A heartwarming story of lost family members reunited after over fifty years and a beautiful cultural family fusion is just one of the latest success stories from people tracing experts FinderMonkey.

Imagine the shock that your never-met-before Grandaughter, daughter and niece of the two sons you’d not seen for over fifty years after being sadly taken away to Pakistan, was looking for you.

This is precisely what happened to Gillian, who last saw her two boys at the ages of two and four before they were taken away to be raised in Pakistan on the wishes of their father.

Believing she’d never see her two children again, Gillian went on to have a daughter, Claire, to whom she never mentioned her two older half-siblings because of the pain and heartbreak caused over five decades ago.

But she never stopped thinking about them or wondering if they had happy lives and families of their own.

Unbeknownst to Gillian, her lost sons both returned to the UK as teenagers, and it was only when Sumara Malik, the daughter of Javide and niece to Jamil got in touch with FinderMonkey that the families were finally reunited.

Gillian’s daughter Claire said “After coming to terms with the shock and news that I had two older half-brothers, I learned more about mum’s story.

She chose to never speak about them because of the pain, but 50 years on we both have regular contact with them, and now our family of two has grown to a huge group of loving and supportive people that have all been bought together thanks to the team at FinderMonkey.”

What makes this story even more poignant is that Gillian almost passed away from cancer last year and now not only does she have her loving family around her, but she has peace of mind after finally being reunited with her children.

Over the last decade, people tracing experts FinderMonkey have helped find more than 15,000 people and reunited missing siblings and long-lost family members, some of which have been out of contact for decades.

Nationally recognised as the UK’s leading people tracing company, FinderMonkey has been featured in the Daily Mirror, Best Magazine, The Independent and on BBC Radio as well as being featured on the popular BBC TV series Family Finders.

FinderMonkey is now urging people who are seeking long-lost relatives to get in touch and say that its never too late to reconnect with family members.

Head Researcher David Oates said “Finding family members that have been missing for years is a wonderful feeling, and Gillian’s story just reinforces the fact that it’s never too late to find the people you love.

We are so happy that we’ve been able to reunite a mother and her sons and give the individuals involved a huge family network filled with love and warmth.
