New parent and baby classes to open in Workington and Cockermouth

Baby Sensory West Cumbria will launch two new parent and baby classes next month under the leadership of local mum, Vicky Davidson. Vicky has been running Baby Sensory classes for six months after deciding to swap her career managing large-scale projects in the housing and nuclear sectors for something closer to home.

After six months running classes at Lamplugh Village Hall on Wednesday morning each week, Vicky has been blown away by the incredible response from families and the positive impact the programme is already having on her community. She is now expanding her business with the launch of two new classes, in Workington (Planet Play) on Mondays and Cockermouth (The Kirkgate Centre) every Thursday from September.

“For years, I balanced demanding projects with raising my two daughters, now aged seven and ten,” said Vicky. “The daily juggle just wasn’t sustainable anymore. I wanted something more meaningful, something that allowed me to be there for my family while also doing work I felt passionate about. Baby Sensory gave me that opportunity.”

Baby Sensory is part of the WOW World Group, a collection of award-winning early years education programmes designed for children from birth to five years old. For Vicky, the franchise also presented an opportunity to solve a gap in local provision. “When my eldest was a baby, we attended Baby Sensory, and I loved it. But by the time my second child was born, there were no local classes running. I knew there was a real need here in West Cumbria, especially given how rural and spread out the area is. My goal is to make classes more accessible, reducing the need for families to travel long distances.

“The training and support from WOW World Group has been phenomenal. The level of research behind the programme is incredible, and I’ve learnt so much about baby development. But more than anything, it’s the smiles, giggles, and connections I see in class each week that make this so special. I’m truly proud to be part of families’ earliest and most precious memories.”
