New Research Finds Voucher Codes Are Becoming Increasingly Important To Savvy Online Shoppers

More than 40% of British consumers shopping online now use voucher or promo codes to get money off their purchases at least once per month as households across the UK feel the pinch.  Those using codes say they typically receive a discount of between 10-50% on their purchases, making for a substantial saving when finances are stretched.

The findings have been drawn from a major survey carried out by the voucher and promo code search engine, Voucher Today. For just over a quarter of shoppers, voucher or coupon codes were a very important factor when deciding whether or not to buy something, suggesting that shoppers are becoming increasingly conscious of budget restrictions and the need to get the best possible deal for their money.

Despite the promise of cash savings, the research did find that 47.9% of shoppers still don’t search for voucher codes before making a purchase – meaning they are almost certainly paying over the odds when shopping online.

Jonathan Kelley, Director of Voucher Today said “Our research has shown that more and more online shoppers are relying on the use of voucher and promo codes to make their money go further. Over half of those shopping online with a voucher code save at least 10% on the standard price of products, with almost a quarter  saving between 30-40% – that kind of saving makes for a noticeable difference to personal finances and makes products that much more affordable. This is especially significant when you factor in that the majority admit to buying at least one thing online each month at an average cost of £100.

“From a retail perspective, our findings really emphasise the importance of offering voucher codes to shoppers to tempt them to buy. We’ve seen that shoppers are increasingly looking for codes to make savings meaning they act as an excellent incentive for shoppers. Even a small discount can be effective and in future, we expect this to be a pre-requisite for some shoppers.”

The Voucher Today search engine is completely free to use. It collates voucher codes and money off codes for a array of big high street and online brands including John Lewis, Missguided and Beauty Pie.

With over 4,000 retailers ranging from fashion to homewares, music to motoring, the site is becoming an increasingly popular resource for shoppers and online bargain hunters looking to make a saving on their next purchase.

What sets Voucher Today apart from other voucher and promo code sites is that only valid codes are offered; the advanced search engine works to provide current codes that haven’t yet expired to visitors, unlike many other sites that simply aggregate known codes with no validity checks.
