As UK Coffee Week approaches, a survey has revealed a shift in the coffee culture, with more workers able to get their caffeine fix and speciality drinks without having to leave their office. The research from coffee and beverage experts the Office Coffee Company uncovered that the days of instant coffee are long gone, being replaced instead with an array of choices that rival high street coffee chains.
56% of employees now have access to a coffee machine, giving them the ability to make freshly ground coffee with just a touch of a button. The popularity of bringing continental coffee choices right into the office means that the old favourite of instant coffee has given way to a cappuccino or a latte. Even the traditional English tea can’t compete, with just 22.5% preferring a brew over a cup of coffee. With better quality drinks at their fingertips, 72% are happy with the hot beverage at their office, giving them less reason to head out to the local coffee shop.
