Pallet Truck Shop welcomes the rise of the plastic pallet
Pallet Truck Shop has welcomed news that the plastic pallet is set to undergo an explosion of use between 2017 and 2025 thanks to its increasing preference by employers.
Plastic pallets are quickly becoming the transport platform of choice for manufacturers and distributors thanks to the plethora of strength and durability and benefits they offer over their wooden counterparts.
Phil Chesworth, Pallet Truck Shop Managing Director, said: “It’s unsurprising that more and more distributors and factory owners are turning to plastic pallets to transport their goods and equipment.
“Plastic pallets are between 30% and 40% more lighter and durable than wooden ones. They can reduce shipment costs by amounts of up to 45%, and manual handling professionals don’t have to worry about accidentally damaging products or breaking the pallet because of the superior strength of the plastic.”
As well as offering increased strength at a lighter weight, plastic pallets can also take up less floor space due to their design. What’s more, plastic pallets are also now commonplace amongst food and pharmaceutical producers due to their superior hygiene and ease of cleaning.
Recent predictions state that these advantages, coupled with the rise of industry in developing economies, are likely to result in a high growth factor amongst the global plastic pallet market between 2017 and 2025.
Geographically, the Asia Pacific region was estimated to be the largest market for plastic pallets in 2016, and is expected to maintain its dominance over the forecast period. Another driving factor behind the rise of the plastic pallet is the increasing international trade of food products across the world.
Phil added: “We supply pallet trucks to many food factories in the UK who use plastic pallets because they’re both hardwearing and hygienic, so it’s easy to see where this heightened demand is coming from as the rest of the world becomes more developed.”
Pallet Truck Shop delivers a massive collection of pallet trucks from its centrally-located Midlands distribution centre, including rough terrain, scissor lift and extra long trucks.
The manual handling equipment specialists also stock a plethora of other materials handling goods including aerial work platforms, forklift fork extensions, static electric lift tables and more.
