Pandemic Stokes Demand for Warehousing and Logistics Workers

The global Covid-19 pandemic has stoked demand for warehouse, logistics and e-commerce roles across the UK with an increase in online shopping creating entry-level jobs for warehousing operatives new to the sector.

According to a recent study conducted by global job search engine Adzuna, the demand for warehouse operatives in various locations across the UK has spiked with more than 7,000 current vacancies remaining unfilled by prospective candidates.

This heightened demand has been driven by retailers focusing their attention on online shopping, enhancing their online presence and by consumers seeking fast-moving consumer goods and grocery shopping online.

These findings are also backed up by warehouse development statistics that show that more than 40m sq ft of warehouse space developments are scheduled for completion in 2021, compared to the 20m sq ft that was created back in 2020.
