PharmaLink Academy Launches CPD-accredited Programmes to Help UK Healthcare Professionals Transition into the Pharmaceutical Industry

With pressure on the NHS workforce intensifying and the threat of burnout looming, a new training provider, PharmaLink Academy, has announced the launch of its flagship CPD-accredited programme in Regulatory Medical Writing. The programme was created to help clinicians, pharmacists and scientists pivot into rewarding pharmaceutical careers.

Founded by Dorothy Ogwuru, an experienced mentor and pharmaceutical professional, PharmaLink Academy offers a structured route for healthcare professionals who wish to transfer their frontline expertise into industry-ready skills. With demand for high-quality documentation and compliance growing across global pharmaceutical companies, regulatory writing is one of the most accessible and valuable pathways for healthcare workers looking to transition.

The programme provides a portfolio-first approach, equipping participants with submission-grade deliverables and practical knowledge that mirrors real industry work. Alongside technical training, learners receive structured job coaching and career support, creating a credible bridge from wards, dispensaries and laboratories into pharmaceutical roles.

Dorothy Ogwuru, Founder and Lead Instructor, said, “Over the years, I have been approached countless times by graduates and NHS professionals who wanted to move into pharma but did not know where to start. I had been mentoring informally for years, but earlier this year I saw a huge increase in requests on LinkedIn. It became clear that what people really needed was a structured learning platform and a community of like-minded professionals to support this career transition.

“That was the inspiration for founding PharmaLink Academy in April 2025. Our mission is to help talented healthcare workers recognise that their scientific and clinical skills are already valuable to the industry: they simply need to translate them into the language of compliance, documentation and regulatory know-how.”

Looking ahead, PharmaLink Academy is set to expand its offering in January 2026 with two new pathways: Pharmacovigilance and the PharmaLink Accelerator, a multi-track programme covering broader pharmaceutical careers including Clinical Development, Medical Affairs and Regulatory Strategy.

These programmes are being introduced at a time when more healthcare workers are seeking alternative career routes that retain their commitment to patient safety while offering greater flexibility, global opportunities and stronger pay progression. According to the GMC’s 2024 National Training Survey, 63% of medical trainees and 50% of trainers reported being at moderate or high risk of burnout, with emergency medicine trainees most affected.

“Flexible work, strong pay progression and global relevance make pharma careers a rational solution for a stretched workforce,” Dorothy added. “This does not mean leaving patients behind: on the contrary, pharmaceutical careers provide a route to redeploy vital expertise into roles that ensure medicines remain safe and effective while supporting faster access to treatments.”
