THE LONDON HORROR SOCIETY LAUNCHES THE LHS PRO LOCATION PORTAL

The brand-new tool is designed to make searching for suitable locations easier and cheaper for indie filmmakers.

The London Horror Society has announced the launch of a brand-new feature inside its LHS Pro service: The LHS Pro Location Portal. This bespoke platform has been specifically built to make hunting for suitable locations both easier and cheaper for indie filmmakers than traditional methods. It has been in development for the past six months, with version one launching to LHS Pro members this week.

The Location Portal currently contains a hand-picked selection of over 100 residential and studio locations from all over the country, that are mainly listed on property rental websites — with even more coming soon.

Each property has been pre-qualified for use by film crews, and had its key features highlighted (and are easily searchable) — making it easy for filmmakers to find exactly what they’re looking for.

What’s more, all are listed at regular holiday rental prices — so there’s no hugely-inflated day rates to contend with. Just fantastic locations at a fair fee.

London Horror Society founder Chris Nials said, “We know from our members that trying to find suitable locations for a project can be one of the most time-consuming and expensive parts of the production process.

“Firstly, the fees for hiring a location through an agency or local authority can be incredibly high. It’s not unheard of for the costs to run into the thousands of pounds for just a single day’s hire. So you can be quickly be priced out of even the cheapest of options — especially when working with tight budgets.

“This often means that the best option is to head to the common short-term rental websites to try and find a good spot. And while this can work out fine, you can often spend hours trawling through pages and pages of properties, only to find out that they’re not suitable for your project, or that the owners won’t entertain film crews at all.

“And that’s precisely why we’ve created the LHS Pro Location Portal – to try and make that whole process easier for all low budget indie filmmakers and producers.”
