Tiredness affects everyone from time to time, but if a recent survey is anything to go by, tiredness could be having a damaging effect on the population.
The UK Tiredness Survey, undertaken by sleep experts, Luxury Bed Co., has revealed that 86 percent of the UK population are either always tired or frequently tired – consequently affecting their professional and social lives.
Highlighting the struggles faced by many, the survey should act as a wake-up call and aim to help those who feel they can’t undertake daily duties to a good standard – according to the bed experts.
Rob Turner, Marketing director at Luxury Bed Co., said, “We all complain we’re tired every now and again, but when it starts to impact our lives regularly, something needs to be done about it. The fact that 89 percent claim that this persistent tiredness affects their professional life, and 86 percent say it affects their personal life, highlights just how bad the issue is getting. The result of a lack of quality sleep, mixed with busy lives that often involve a lot of commuting and overtime, and of course stress, the fact is we are simply not getting enough sleep – and this is causing us harm.”
These figures are underlined with the revelation that 64 percent of those surveyed said they didn’t feel they got enough sleep, and of course the results from another survey undertaken by the company that almost half (44 percent) of respondents got less than six hours sleep per night.
A spokesperson added, “This is a national issue and needs to be addressed sooner rather than later – before we’re left with a population who struggle to carry out simple tasks, and of course become ill as a result.”
Just seven percent of those surveyed said they never felt tired per se, and the same number stating they did occasionally.
