The World’s First Peer-Matching & Social Network for Infertility Community Due to Launch

A new members only social network for couples struggling to conceive will launch early next year. Currently under development, the highly anticipated Pineapl app is designed to provide peer-to-peer support for those struggling with infertility issues, enabling users to connect with others who have previously, or who are currently going through similar experiences. The first-of-its-kind platform analyses profile information to expertly match users so that they can build a tailored support network.

As a completely independent social network, Pineapl promotes the idea of private peer-to-peer support and encourages users to build new relationships within the community. Taking a range of metrics into account, including      cause      of infertility, location, type of journey or treatment and stage of infertility journey, means users are effortlessly presented with a list of individuals from which they can custom build their support circle.

Pineapl is a uniquely customisable network with users able to tailor what they see in their feed, helping them to avoid unnecessary upset. The integrated ‘sensitivity shield’ masks potentially ‘triggering’ content, requiring users to take an additional action of consent to reveal      what’s behind it. Similarly, the ‘hide pregnancy-related content’ setting means that users can remain connected with those who may become pregnant, without the worry of seeing      updates they may not feel ready to see.

“When I discovered that I was infertile, I turned to online communities for support and understanding, but I soon realised that existing social platforms aren’t built for these kinds of conversations,” says Pineapl Co-Founder Kristen Adamson. “They’re not private enough, not customisable enough, not sympathetic enough, or they’re simply outdated in their approach. It’s time that the infertility community has a dedicated platform to connect and confide in one another, and finally have a safe, supportive place that’s been custom-built exclusively for them.”

Having been diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure when she was 19, Kristen was told that she would never be able to conceive naturally. Following a miscarriage, Kristen and her husband went on to have healthy twin boys through IVF treatment using her sister’s eggs. It is this experience with infertility that has inspired the development and launch of the innovative app.

“I was lucky to have great support from my family throughout my own infertility journey, but that’s not always the case,” says Kristen. “Many people feel isolated and judged, and only find comfort in others facing the same set of circumstances as them–who are sometimes next-to-impossible to find. We want to change that. We want to make infertility support better. Infertility isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ problem, so our support solutions shouldn’t be either.”

Pineapl is due to launch early next year with a Kickstarter campaign scheduled to launch on 27th July to secure additional support to complete the final stages of app development. To get involved with, and learn more about Pineapl, visit https://www.pineapl.app/
